Sea Nymph Sorrow
Sea Nymph
3 versions of my character design for a sea nymph.
This Sea Nymph is an ancient creature. Rather small, only about a foot in length. They didn’t always look like this, so humanoid. Though normally a deep sea dweller, they will come to the surface at night to feed. One evening they saw a sailor on a rowboat headed to the shore from his ship. They watched as his face and torso glowed in the moonlight. They fell deeply in love but knew they could never be together. The Sea Nymph began to change their form to look like the sailor mimicking his features and creating a sailor shirt from their jellied flesh. They don’t know what the sailor’s bottom half looks like so they remain as their original form on the lower half. This transformation has taken 100 years and for however long it takes they’ll try to perfect the mimicry of the sailor because in a way they’ll be able to be with him, as themself, even as his face blurs in their memory more and more everyday.
